Lebanon County Christian Ministries is the food pantry in Lebanon County with Market on 7th where the 1,013 boxes of cereal donated by the students and community of South Lebanon Elementary School in the Cornwall-Lebanon School District will fill the shelves with enough cereal to feed families shopping there for two weeks.
Please have the anchors identify Lebanon County Christian Ministries' Market on 7th as the food pantry that is the recipient of the cereal boxes donation. (In the shout-out, the teacher just says a local food pantry).
The video shows Mr. John Mohn [pronounced, "moan"], two kindergarten classes and the fifth grade students who led the project starting the March “MAZE-ness” Cereal Box Domino Course Topple - a fun activity to celebrate achieving the students’ goal of gathering 1,000+ cereal boxes to donate to the Lebanon County Christian Ministries Market on 7th! The Domino Topple Course stretched all the way around their school's hallways! This amount of cereal will fill the shelves with enough cereal to feed families shopping at Market on 7th for two weeks.
The project launched March 2, during Read Across America Week, when the school celebrated reading with the theme "Reading is Cereal-ously Amazing." This playful theme helped introduce the idea of collecting cereal boxes while encouraging students to develop a love of reading and literacy.
John Mohn, South Lebanon Elementary School's enrichment and gifted learning teacher, designed the program to combine service with hands-on educational opportunities. "March MAZEness gives students a fun way to make a real difference in our community," said Mohn. "They're not only helping local families but also applying skills they're learning in the classroom. Students are practicing math skills by graphing cereal donations and tracking collections by grade level, while also exploring science and engineering concepts as they design and build the domino course using cereal boxes.”
The event also highlights the core values of the South Lebanon Falcons, encouraging students to practice kindness, teamwork, and community awareness.
