Hi.

So around 7:20 pm today I was walking up Burdett street and I could hear a man calling after me. I chose to ignore him because I did not recognize his voice so felt no need to engage in the interaction. The man then sent a young boy to chase after me to get my attention. When I turned around the man who claimed to be in an esteemed position at the Thai restaurant the ‘Chill Out Cafe’ came steaming towards me aggressively and pointing at my chest to pay him back $65 for ‘dining and dashing’ his restaurant yesterday apparently with my partner. He was looming over me demanding money from me and threatening me. He tried to get me to go with him to look at CCTV with him in his restaurant but I chose not to go. I know where I was all day yesterday that was at home in bed suffering with a hay fever allergy. I was terrified, this man just saw a black woman and racially profiled me because I seemed to look similar to the woman in the video on his CCTV. I have never been to nor heard of the restaurant before. I was only walking up Burdette to grab some clothes to donate at the local community garden tomorrow for the homeless. The man was so aggressive and swearing at me, he was 5x my size and probably in his late 50s. I’m 32, Black British Muslim and very petite. I submitted a police report but I was so scared I didn’t take my phone out to record it. Hopefully there was something on CCTV to capture what happened.
